Accessibility

What is WCAG? What does WCAG mean?

WCAG is short for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

These are international Web standards for accessibility developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (WC3) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). The current version of standards is WCAG 2.1.

In principle, the standards focus on four main conditions for online content. These are: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable and Robust.

Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, all online information and services in Australia must be non-discriminatory. Australian Government agencies provide minimum WCAG level A standards for online content and are in the process of upgrading to level AA and eventually level AAA.

If you are not already meeting level A standards for your online content (including attachments, images, videos, animations and eLearning) you could be exposing your organisation to penalties under the Act.

The Disability Standards for Education 2005 contain additional guidance for education providers on reasonable adjustment, consultation, eliminating discrimination and measures for compliance under the Act.

How can you help me to meet legal requirements for accessibility?

We can make any content accessible. There is always a way. Let us know what you need, and we will help you get there.

All our designs are tested by a professional screen reader user and meet WCAG 2.1 level A standards as a minimum. For most of our designs we aim higher than level A. Talk to us about your learner needs and we will ensure all your needs are met.

Can you fix a Word document or PowerPoint presentation or PDF or eLearning I already made?

Yes, we can fix anything to meet WCAG 2.1 standards and make it accessible.

We can also help you to:

  • reduce jargon
  • incorporate Plain English principles such as learner-centred language
  • re-design your page or screen to focus on the most important content

And we offer workshops to support you and your teams to learn how to do it yourself.

Timeframes, delivery and outcomes

How long will it take to make an eLearning?

It really depends on what you are after.

If you already have Subject Matter Expert (SME) endorsed content in a comprehensive storyboard or existing eLearning format it may only take 1 – 2 weeks to complete.

Otherwise, as a general guide, most standard eLearnings take 12 weeks. This allows time for project briefing with key stakeholders and SMEs, storyboard development, drafts, review, and final delivery of the completed SCORM and raw project files. Timeframes will always be tailored to suit you and to achieve the best outcomes for your project.

For comprehensive solutions, incorporating blended options or multiple eLearnings, contact us to discuss your timeframe delivery requirements.

What do we get and when do we get it?

Tell us about your project.

We will discuss your requirements with you, develop a contract together, agree on a fixed price and commit to set delivery timeframes including the completion date. We will continue to communicate with you regularly as the project progresses and be available to discuss development needs and potential requirement changes at any time. LB Learning Solutions takes great pride in providing a customised service that is flexible and adaptable to suit your needs. We deliver all our projects on time, and check in with you after the project is complete to make sure you are happy with the final product.

Can you make it look like we made the eLearning ourselves?

Yes. We will incorporate your branding including colours, font styles and any other style guide requirements you have into the foundation templates for your eLearning. We can do the same for all resources and documents you ask us to design or edit.

Performance

How can you help us to make performance improvements?

Performance consulting is something we do to determine the right approach for your project. We take a deep-dive, listen carefully to your requirements and analyse your needs before making recommendations. Time spent making sure we are on the right track will be time saved and results gained for your organisation and for your project. We are focused on achieving results for you.

Cost

How much do your products and services cost?

LB Learning Solutions are cost competitive and value for money. Our rates are based on the level of professional experience we bring to your project and the quality of work we deliver. Contact us to discuss what you are looking for.

What if I want to make an update after the project is finished?

We know that change is constant and you will need to make updates sometimes. We are always happy to help whether your change is major or tiny. Most of our work at LB Learning Solutions is completed and delivered to a fixed deadline, but if you know in advance that future updates will be needed we can incorporate an update process and rate into our agreement. Otherwise, updates can be made at any time after completion of your project and will be charged at a reasonable hourly rate.
